The POP team was disbanded and the officers have been redistributed within patrol

Problems in your neighborhood are still important to us so please call or email them to us: [email protected] or leave a message at the voice mail at 916-566-6448. We will log these events and have beat officers work them as time and circumstances allow

MESSAGE FROM CAPT MACCOUN:

Our crime statistics from the last two weeks look very encouraging. Because of the recent changes there may be "under reporting" in crimes like burglary so I am not claiming property crimes as a victory. However, in other categories where there has been no change in reporting we are doing well.

I have attached robbery/ burglary crime maps for the last two weeks (previously we had weekly). These maps are not "scrubbed" for errors in reporting and can be deceiving.

Example: Loss prevention agents of a store arrest a shoplifter and report as burglary as they believe shoplifter had intent to steal when entering store. Technically they are correct but it skews the view when you are trying to watch for trends or plan deployment of police resources.

Crime trends:
-We are seeing a small uptick in gang related activity in South Natomas and Northgate.

-We have had two residential burglaries of occupied residences in the Modlin Wy area. No suspects seen. Please lock your doors/windows at night.

New tool in use:
-Our mobile video surveillance trailer is now in use. The trailer can be remotely monitored/controlled, records activity in its area, reads license plates, and has its own alarm system. State grant funds paid for this top flight device. It has been in use in North Natomas and will soon be appearing in the Del Paso Blvd area. If you have suggested areas of deployment let us know.

National Night Out:
We are prepping for it..... If your group has not already advised of your event please email Program Analyst Jeanette Bonner and she will add you to the list:
