Committees

Communications Committee

Members: Linn Hom(Chair), Curtis Cook, Molly Fling, Stephen Nichols

The Communications Committee was created by the Board in March 2009. The primary purpose of this committee is to facilitate external communication between the Board of Directors and other community stakeholders including neighborhood/community associations, municipal services, and elected officials.  The committee is also charged with the implementation of technology for association purposes, which includes the maintenance of the Association's website.  Finally, the committee seeks new ways to provide information and outreach to the ever expanding demographics in the Natomas Community-At-Large.

Education Committee

Members: Molly Fling (Chair), Kris Anderson, Lisa Haynes, Lynn Lenzi, Mark Higgins, Stephen Nichols

The Education Committee awards one or two $500 scholarships to seniors with confirmed higher education plans following graduation from Natomas High Schools.  These include, Natomas High, Inderkum, Discovery, NP3, Natomas Charter, Grant and Rio Linda.  The nomination forms are distributed to the schools in the early spring, and the Committee ranks each student and then selects one or two students to receive the award.  Members of the Committee attend the award banquet and present the check to the student at this time.  The money is raised from raffling various Natomas restaurant and business donations at the Celebrate Natomas Fair in September. We also hold School Board Forums during election years to introduce the candidates to the community. We meet sporadically.

Flood Committee

Members: Molly Fling (Chair),

We monitor the various public agencies who control Natomas’ flood control mechanisms by attending meetings of the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency (SAFCA), Reclamation District 1000, SAFCA Roundtable, SAC. Regional County
San. District, and the CSD-1 Sewer District. (See Community Resources for a link)

Parks Committee

Members: George Azar(Chair), Joanie Toomire

The NCA Parks Committee works with neighbors and the City to develop and maintain parks in all of Natomas. Some of our currently active projects are developing North Natomas Regional Park by working on a North Natomas Regional Park Finance Plan with the City of Sacramento, getting important amenities and programs added to our neighborhood and community parks and establishing an Adopt A Park program with the City in which interested residents volunteer to help the City maintain area parks. Our regular NCA Parks Committee meeting is held monthly with the Natomas Park Master Association’s Parks and Schools Committee and with the Friends of the North Natomas Regional Park. This joint group meets every third Monday at 6 pm at The Club at Natomas Park, located on the corner of Club Center Drive and Natomas Blvd in Natomas Park (North Natomas). We try to keep the meeting to no longer than one hour. Please join us!

Planning Committee

Members: Lynn Lynzi (Chair), Holly Brickner,

For over 20 years, the NCA has been an influential partner in the planning and development of the Natomas community. Today, the Planning Committee, composed of residents from all areas of Natomas, meets monthly to comment on all development applications for Natomas.

Mission Statement

The Planning/Transportation Committee's mission is to further the goals of the NCA by supporting high quality development and community planning in Natomas. We discuss proposed development projects, bike and transportation plans and programs, hear presentations from developers and city staff about projects and plans that affect us, comment on various proposals and testify at public hearings. We have fun while we're doing it, enjoying pizza at the Park Place Round Table, and each other. Our current group has representatives from five other community
associations, and we need others to share our discussions with their members.

Meets the 2nd Monday of every month at 7:00 PM at Round Table at Park Place, 4680 Natomas Blvd. Everyone is welcome to join us and share your thoughts and views. We need to hear from You!
